Contractor T. J. Harvey, of the Harvey & Kitchell Brick Works at Carrollton, is making splendid progress on the construction of Messrs. Humphrey & Co.'s new building just north of the First National Bank on Howard Street.
This new structure is to be a mammoth two-story building with stone and pressed gray brick front, and equipped with all modern conveniences, including steam heat, etc.
The building complete will not cost less than $20,000, and that it will be an ornament to the city goes without saying.
The first floor of this large and conveniently arranged building will be used exclusively by Messrs. Humphrey & co. in the handling of their extensive cotton business, while the upstairs will be made into handsome offices for rent.
Contractor Harvey informs The Commonwealth that he will have the building ready for occupancy by September 1st, the beginning of the next cotton season.
