Delta Chevrolet
The Delta Chevrolet Company of this city will erect a modern Chevrolet building within the next few months, it was announced this morning by Mr. Wayne Williams, head of the local Chevrolet agency.
The deal was closed this morning for the site of the new building which will be a one story brick structure. The model building will be erected at a cost between $25,000 and $30,000. The Delta Chevrolet Company secured the lot on the corner of George and Church streets which was formerly occupied by the McGehee property.
The lot is 150 by 100 feet with 150 front on Church Street and 100 foot front on George street. The building will be erected so as to give two display rooms, one on George Street and the other on Church Street. The entrance will be at the corner of the lot.
The building will be one of the most up-to-date and modern homes for the Chevrolet company. The showroom facing Church Street will be used to display the new cars while the display room on George Street will be used to show used cars. The service department will have entrance on Church Street. This department will be one of the most modern automobile shops in the city. No cost will be spared in making this department the very best in the city.
The offices will be located in the rear of the display rooms and will be modernly equipped. The parts department will be another feature of this splendid new building.
Mr. Williams said today that plans would begin immediately for the construction of this new building. The lot will be cleared of the few remains of the burned McGehee home within a few days and construction work will begin in a few weeks.
