Greenwood Gets Public Park
Greenwood has secured a public park of about twelve acres in Oak Grove section of Congress Heights, and a contract has been let for a main pavilion, bungalow style, 50x60, fifty lawn swings and a hundred rustic seats and benches with 25 or 30 tables with rustic chairs.
This park is a virgin forest of beautiful trees, and the landscape gardening will be equal to that of any city in the country.
It is the intention to use this park as a place for a play and recreation ground, church picnics, and public speaking and gatherings of this nature, and it will be a great addition to this, the already beautiful and fast growing "Queen City of the Delta".

GO OUT TO THE PARK
It is with a great deal of genuine pleasure that we note the activity in Congress Heights Park. We are glad, too, to see the many hundreds throng out in that pleasure resort daily to see what work is done along that line.
Greenwood for some time has been in sore need of such a place of recreation, and the efforts of these energetic real estate men who believe in Greenwood are appreciated by every citizen of Greenwood. They have undertaken a big job, and when they shall have completed the work on the park that graces that addition, they will have erected a monument that will be an ornament not only to their addition, but to the whole city.
Next Sunday stroll out to the park and encourage the promoters of this pleasure place. Give them your suggestions if you think them good ones and help them make it ideal. The location is fit and the scenery good. Every convenience in the way of good walks, pavilion, seats, swings, etc., will be provided.
If you haven't been out, go out next Sunday and you will see that Greenwood is to have a real park of which we will all be proud.

CONGRESS HEIGHTS CIGARS ON SALE
Large Shipment Received by Scates Bros. Who are Sole Distributors
That "Congress Heights" cigar, about which we have heard Dr. Lee Arterbury say so many good things, arrived in the city this week, the shipment containing several thousands of this dime cigar for a nickel.
Mr. Arterbury has instructed Scates Bros., the sole distributors, to place them at various stores, among whom are Stein's Grocery, Raines Drug Store, Chandler's Drug Store, European Hotel & Restaurant, L. H. Wilkinson's Drug Store, Arnold's Caf'e and Bakery, Jno. M. Murrin's store at Race Track, Scates Bros. Drug Store and Confectionery, and J. T. Dean's store on Carrollton Avenue at which stores this excellent ten-cent smoke can be had for a nickel.
This is another unique advertising scheme that Dr. Arterbury has put in the play. The cigar lid has printed upon it, "Congress Heights, the fastest growing addition in the fastest growing city in Mississippi, Lee Arterbury, Salesman, Scates Bros. sole-distributors, Greenwood, Miss." Mr. Arterbury is in a position to advise you what advertising does and it is evident that he believes The Commonwealth's columns are the best newspaper medium in the Delta.
