Calvary Baptist Church
The Baptist Church of East Greenwood, known as the Second Baptist Church, has been changed to Calvary Baptist Church by vote of the Pastor Henry l. Byrd, and the members.
Plans are going forward for a new building to be constructed on McLean and Grand Avenue sometime during the year. The Calvary Baptist Church will function under the same organization as the Second Church.

Ground was broken yesterday for the new Calvary Baptist Church that is to be erected in East Greenwood and the first shovel of dirt was turned by Rev. H. L. Byrd, the Pastor.
The full membership of the church and a large gathering of friends were present for the celebration at the church site on the corner of Grand Avenue and McLean Street.
The new building is to be constructed of brick, however, the plans are to complete the basement and use it for services until more money can be raised to go on with the other building.

Work is going ahead rapidly on the new Calvary Baptist Church under construction in East Greenwood, and with continued progress, the basement will be ready for use before so many weeks.
Three brick masons are working full-time, and the window and door casings are already in place. As soon as the basement is completed, it will be used for worship until more money can be raised to go on with the main building.
